Forming in 2002, gravitate were originally a three-piece rock outfit with intentions to set the rock'n'roll scene into a state of disrepair. Simon, Paul and Dan all attended high school together, but it wasn't until well after the final bell had rung before they all picked up their respective instruments and began rocking out some tunes together. Originating from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, gravitate spent considerable time building a solid set of powerful rock tunes and tranquil ballads, stemming from musical influences such as Ammonia, Ash, Unwritten Law, BoySetsFire, Hoobastank and the Smashing Pumpkins.

Early performances by gravitate were well received by friends and random pub goers alike. From then on, gravitate have intensified their rock performance, witnessed by increasing crowds as they dominate various venues in and around Melbourne, including Revolver, the Armadale, and Switch nightclub to name a few. During the colder months of 2003, gravitate even ventured to Mt Hotham for gigs. Meanwhile, they were supporting bands to the likes of The Androids, Blake (NZ) and Paper Street SC.

Despite the early successes, the decision was made in 2004 to fatten the gravitate sound, with the inclusion of Jarrod on lead guitar. Considerable time was spent focusing on the bands new and improved sound, writing a new song or two in the process, and the release of their debut self titled EP in 2005. Now, gravitate have emerged as a new and exciting four-piece rock group, exploding onto the Australian music scene with a solid compilation of songs, and energetic live performances.
